I’m an Associate Teaching Professor of Philosophy at Northeastern University.
I was trained in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. I write scholarly papers on Platonic moral psychology and Socrates’ project of changing what people value the most.
My recent focus has been on the philosophy of emotions. I am writing a public-facing book that challenges Stoicism’s conception of mental health.
My teaching is based on the pedagogical model of philosophy as a way of life. Some of my courses are in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, and others are in ethics and the philosophy of mind. My most recent course is called How to Flourish despite Almost Anything.
I am an associate editor of Philosophers’ Imprint.
